Burning Trash

Around slums and places where there is lots of garbage you see people burning trash. This is one of the ways how the Indonesians get rid of there trash, but not knowing that it is extremely bad for the environment. By burning trash, mainly plastic one is releasing many harmful chemicals into the atmosphere which is greater contributing to global warming. Urbanization has contributed to this because more people equals more trash and that is what is encouraging people to burn the trash.

  1. So what do you suggest we do about it? Last year trash burning was horrific where I live. It really saddened me that if I were to go out and play tennis (do something healthy) I would be breathing in noxious air while I did it. That's not how we should live. What is interesting, however, is that more people have built houses around our development hence pushing trash burners away. So although more people moved into our neighborhood, in turn creating more waste, the trash burning has decreased. I think the govt. needs to provide adequate services to pick trash up and burning should be outlawed. You burn, you pay a small fine. Wouldn't be hard to find these people. Just sniff a little...
