Pollution

In Jakarta there is lots of pollution, mainly due to the huge size of the population. There is pollution everywhere in Jakarta, the water is polluted the air is polluted and the streets are polluted. Jakarta is the third most polluted city in the world. Urbanization connects to this because people moving from rural areas to the city contribute to the pollution. Also they may have little knowledge about how bad it is for the environment. People need to learn that what they are doing is bad and they need to learn how to stop it.

Burning Trash

Around slums and places where there is lots of garbage you see people burning trash. This is one of the ways how the Indonesians get rid of there trash, but not knowing that it is extremely bad for the environment. By burning trash, mainly plastic one is releasing many harmful chemicals into the atmosphere which is greater contributing to global warming. Urbanization has contributed to this because more people equals more trash and that is what is encouraging people to burn the trash.

Jakarta

Urbanization is defined by the United Nations as movement of people from rural to urban areas with population growth. I have lived in Jakarta for almost 9 years and though you don't see it everyday you know its happening because the city is getting more and more crowded. You also hear about it in the news. The traffic, pollution and people is increasing due to urbanization, though it may be good for Jakarta's economy its not helping the environment. Also many of the people who come into the city from agriculture have no where to live so they live on the streets.
